About The Role
Domiciliary care workers, also known as home health workers, care for chronically or long-term ill patients in the comfort of their homes. They’re in charge of assisting with daily tasks like bathing, cooking, dressing, and toileting. Care workers also help medication administration by taking notes of adverse reactions and abnormal behaviour while charting usage. Moreover, they help with household tasks like cooking, vacuuming and mopping, offer emotional support and a shoulder to cry on and participate in hobbies and activities the client enjoys.
Practically, they assist with booking appointments or accompanying clients to healthcare visits, picking up prescriptions and running errands, and even helping with pet care by walking and feeding pets.
Domiciliary care workers need to possess strong soft skills, like patience, empathy, compassion, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, reliability, time management, physical stamina, the ability to perform basic tasks, a strong work ethic, and commitment to your patients.
